High risk pregnancy requires special care. There are many reasons why a pregnancy might be considered high risk, including:

  • Your age (being a teenager or above the age of 35)
  • Your weight (being extremely underweight or overweight)
  • Your health (having pre-existing conditions, such as hypertension or diabetes)
  • Your pregnancy (carrying multiples)

Having a high risk pregnancy doesn’t necessarily mean you should expect problems during your pregnancy. In many cases, it simply means that additional observation and precautions will be required.
